Our purpose is to provide an easy-to-use on-line form and related tools for stakeholders to share essential detail about underground damage or near-miss incidents for use in determining root causes, which will be evaluated and used to focus and promote underground damage prevention education and training efforts.
Effective 1/1/2014, California Government Code section 4216.6 c & d calls for operators and excavators to provide information about “facility events” using the California Regional Common Ground Alliance Virtual Private Damage Information Reporting Tool. Facility events are excavator downtime, damages, near misses and violations. Each calendar year’s facility events must be reported by March 31 of the following year.
Reporting is accomplished by inputting your data in a web-based form or electronic data exchange using xml or an automated data loader.

In support of the national 811 day, CGA aims to release the 2014 DIRT report on August 11th, 2015. To meet this deadline, 2014 DIRT data must be submitted by March 31st, 2015 in order to be included in the report.
